1. Estimates and service scope
Website content and initial conversations are informational and do not create a booking or guarantee a price. A move is scheduled only after KBA Movers confirms availability and the customer accepts the applicable written estimate, order for service, or service agreement.
Estimates are based on the information provided by the customer, including addresses, inventory, stairs, elevators, walking distance, parking, packing needs, specialty items, and requested dates. Changes to those details may change the crew, equipment, schedule, or price.
2. Scheduling, deposits, and payment
Available dates and arrival windows are confirmed directly by KBA Movers. Any deposit, minimum charge, hourly rate, travel charge, accepted payment method, or payment schedule will be stated in the customer's written estimate or service agreement. Unless that agreement states otherwise, payment is due when services are completed.
3. Customer responsibilities
- Provide accurate addresses, access details, contact information, and inventory.
- Secure parking, elevator reservations, building access, and required permissions.
- Keep children and pets away from active work areas.
- Disconnect appliances and electronics unless a written agreement includes that work.
- Keep cash, jewelry, medications, keys, legal papers, and other essential items with you.
- Identify fragile, high-value, unusually heavy, or specialty items before move day.
4. Items KBA Movers may not transport
For safety and legal reasons, KBA Movers may refuse hazardous, illegal, unsafe, unsanitary, or inadequately packed items. Examples include explosives, ammunition, fuel, propane cylinders, open paint or chemicals, controlled substances, perishable food, live plants or animals, and items that cannot be moved safely with the agreed crew or equipment. Ask before move day if you are uncertain about an item.
5. Packing and item condition
Customer-packed boxes must be closed, labeled, and strong enough for their contents. KBA Movers may decline to move an unsafe container or may require repacking. Customers should photograph valuable items and disclose existing damage before work begins. Pressboard, particleboard, ready-to-assemble furniture, and owner-disassembled items can be especially vulnerable during handling.
6. Delays, access, and weather
Arrival times can be affected by traffic, weather, prior jobs, road conditions, elevator access, and other circumstances outside reasonable control. KBA Movers may pause, reschedule, or refuse work when conditions create a safety risk. Additional labor or waiting time caused by undisclosed access conditions may affect the final charge when allowed by the written agreement and applicable law.
7. Changes, cancellation, and rescheduling
Contact KBA Movers as soon as possible to change or cancel a move. Any notice period, cancellation fee, rescheduling fee, or deposit treatment will be the amount stated in the accepted written estimate or service agreement. KBA Movers will apply those terms consistently with applicable Iowa law.
8. Loss, damage, and claims
Inspect items and the property when work is completed. Report suspected loss or damage promptly using the contact information below and preserve the item, packaging, photos, and proof of value. Any valuation option, liability limit, exclusion, and claim deadline will be governed by the written moving documents and applicable law. This policy does not waive rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.
9. Service area and job-specific terms
This website describes local moving help in central Iowa. KBA Movers must review and confirm every route and service request. If this policy conflicts with a signed job-specific agreement, the signed agreement controls to the extent permitted by law.
